» Stop Masturbating!

Dr. Victor B. Cline of the University of Utah is a psychologist with a robust private practice.  His specialty is marital counseling and sexual addiction.  Cline is the author of “Pornography Effects on Adults and Children.”  Cline is a recognized authority on sexual addictions including online pornography and masturbation.

He has seen, heard and felt the pain these destructive addictions have on families, careers, addicts and their loved ones.  Cline is especially critical of pornography.  The Doctor asserts that pornography unfailingly unleashes a “four factor syndrome” that is a path to self-destruction.

Cline further asserts that the untreated male or female porn addict will follow the four-factor syndrome without fail.  To understand and treat the sex addict, one must understand where in the chain the addict is positioned.  Cline’s four steps are:

  • Addiction – The pornographer gets hooked.  One exploring pornographic materials, certain persons cannot stop.  The material seems to provide an aphrodisiac or sexual stimulant. The most common form of release is masturbation. The greater the addict’s capacity to fantasize, the stronger the addiction.
  • Escalation – As the habit continues, the addict pursues more deviant sexual conduct, which is necessary to produce sexual turn-ons.  A willing sexual partner is never enough.  In fact, Cline says the addict’s capacity to have meaningful sexual intercourse diminishes which increase the addict’s need for masturbation.
  • Desensitization – The addict’s need to find more outlandish material increases.  What might originally have seemed pornographic becomes commonplace in the porn addict’s mind.  Even repulsive pornography becomes sexually arousing and overrides many of the addict’s life-long beliefs.
  • Acting Out Sexually – At this point, the porn addict begins to act out the pornographic fantasies.  Actions might include compulsive promiscuity, exhibitionism, group sex and voyeurism.  More serious actions might include sexual abuse of children, rape and the infliction of pain during sex.

Cline’s conclusion is, “In my clinical experience, however, the major consequence of being addicted to pornography is not the probability or possibility of committing a serious sex crime (thought this can and does occur), but rather the disturbance of the fragile bonds of intimate family and marital relationships.  This is where the moist grievous pain, damage and sorrow occur.  There is repeatedly an interference with or even destruction of healthy love and sexual relationships.

Cline certainly qualifies as an expert on online pornography.  The doctor encourages person struggling with masturbation or porn addiction to seek help.  However, as an experienced therapist, the doctor realizes that it is rare the addict seeks help until after a period of self-destruction.  If you or someone you know is struggling with porn or masturbation addiction and you do not want to follow the 4-step path to destruction, help yourself. Learn all your treatment options today.

The recent high profile online porn scandal involving employees at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has ignited political, public and private awareness about sexual addictions.  The SEC revelations may advance public concern about online porn and masturbation addiction.

As serious as the online porn usage was at the SEC, reports indicate that other U.S. government agencies are also being monitored.  Currently, the computers at the National Science Foundation are reportedly being scrutinized.

While the scandal is in the U.S. online porn addiction is a global condition that is growing at epidemic proportions.  The addictions have always been considered too personal to discuss and that mindset may well be responsible for the rapid growth.  However, our free eBook ‘How to Stop masturbation – 8-step eBook’ will answer many questions about the symptoms, causes, effects and treatments of online porn addiction and masturbation addiction.

The SEC has acted carefully with the results of the investigation.  All employees have been suspended, terminated or have resigned from their very lucrative jobs.  Most of the online porn users earned between $100,000 – $200,000 per year.  One employee earning more than $200,000 resigned his position rather than admit the usage.  Another female employee found a way to bypass the agency’s filtering system and spent 8 hours each day searching for porn.

Morality in The Media president, Robert Peters, took an aggressive stance regarding the report.  “Addiction to this material in the adult population is contributing to sexual exploitation of children, to the breakup of marriages, to sexual violence against women, to the demand for women trafficked into prostitution, to on-the-job sexual harassment, and to a decline in worker productivity,” Peters declared.

“Odds are the misuse of time at the SEC is not the cause of our nation’s financial crisis. But, I suspect we will never know what might have been prevented had SEC personnel been focused on their jobs instead of on computer screens filled with hardcore pornography,” added Peters.

Can you imagine losing your $200,000 a year job because you were addicted to online porn?  While online porn affects persons of all ages, both sexes and all economic levels, this example speaks volumes about the addiction.  Make no mistake about it masturbation addiction and online porn addiction takes hold of the user’s life.  From the moment the addict awakens until they finally sleep, these addictions determine the addict’s every move, often at the expense of other responsibilities.

The addiction is driven by the brain’s need to re-supply something that feels good.  We know that drug addictions are destructive in nature.  Sexual addictions are no different.  Untreated, the condition will intensify and the addict’s life will begin to fall apart.

Persons suffering from masturbation addiction or online porn addiction do not have to hit bottom before receiving treatment.

Porn addiction in the workplace is a longstanding problem that affects both public and private enterprises at all levels.  Porn and masturbation addictions are more common that we think.  The dependencies strike both genders, children, adults and seniors of all economic levels and of all races and religions.

Yet, some workplaces seem impervious to the definite trends.  However, a March 24th 2010 report from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) clearly illustrates the length and depth of online pornography addiction.

Washington already has some experience with online pornography.  In 2008, The District of Columbia was forced to fire nine municipal employees who had opened more than 20,000 sexually explicit images over a 12-moth period.  18 other city agencies also reported misuse of city computers for the sole purpose of online pornography.  Indeed, the most active search times for pornography sites is fast becoming the working day.

The new Washington era of transparency paints a very real portrayal of the dangers of untreated porn or masturbation addiction.  If you or someone you know suffers from either addiction, simple enter your name in the top left corner of this page and download our free eBook, ‘How to Stop masturbation – 8-step eBook.’  This helpful guide will help identify the symptoms, effects and possible treatments for online porn or masturbation addiction.

The SEC is one of America’s most revered financial regulatory bodies. The scale of the porn addiction investigation was comprehensive and thorough.  Approximately 1% of the 35,000 workforce either admitted to or was identified as a user of SEC property to obtain pornographic material on a regular basis.  To think this problem is confined to the U.S. is too simplistic.  Online porn addiction strikes all corners of the world.  The chances are good that you know someone suffering this debilitating dependency.

Meanwhile at the SEC, 17 identified senior employees, many of who were accountants and lawyers, earned between $100,000 and $200,000 per year.  One attorney admitted to spending 8 hours per working day in search of pornography.  Many employees had stored large quantities of sexual images on their computers.

At the SEC, the most serious cases were dismissed outright or suspended from work.  Can you imagine throwing away a great career and terrific job because of your pornography addiction?  It seems almost unimaginable but the chances are that someone at your workplace is searching for pornographic sites on a regular basis.

At the SEC, offending employees were suspended, pending enrollment in and compliance with sex addiction treatment programs.  These proven therapies work and have already saved thousands of porn addicts.  Sometimes, intervention is needed to help an addict enroll in the right treatment program.

Usually the addict will have tried to self-medicate.  That experience usually fails but leaves the addict skeptical about the success of any program.  The addict then continues the masturbation, pornography addiction.  As the disorder continues to unfold, the addict will encounter relationship problems as well as financial, legal and professional difficulties.  Without treatment, the vicious cycle spirals out of control.

All over the globe, people eat.  All over the globe, people masturbate and people seek out pornography.  People consume alcohol, smoke tobacco products and indulge in illegal drugs.  These are not bad people.  But, they are people who expose themselves to the danger of addictions or disorders that can quickly take a life of order and make it an unrecognizable life of chaos.

There are two sides to every argument.  I eat because it is natural.  I masturbate because it is natural.  These statements have truth.  94 percent of all men masturbate.  46 percent of women masturbate.  Masturbation will not make you go blind, will not cause hairy palms and is not a sin.  Eating is good and healthy, until it becomes obsessive and unhealthy.  Both responses are most likely caused by other emotional insecurities or restlessness.  And, both have very serious effects.

While over-eating or under-eating can be visually noticed, the secretive masturbation addiction will not be kindly received or tolerantly received in public.  It is secretive.  Masturbation addiction is the pursuit of a fantasy and it often does not stop with the simple act of masturbation excessively.

Masturbation and pornography addiction affect all around you.  That is at work, at school or at home.  Your habits, the subtle changes in your behavior, the secretiveness of your addiction and your compulsion for fantasy are noticed by those around you.

Small barriers become big walls.  When these addictions leave the house, they become someone else’s problem.  And, schools businesses and society are much less tolerant about these dependencies.  Most likely fueled by reports of online child pornography and inappropriate contact with children online, state, local and national laws work swiftly and poignantly to end pornographic addiction.

One disturbing characteristic of masturbation addicts is that they tend to shy away from the possibility of intimate relationships.  These individuals find that intimacy only to discover that their addiction to sex alone prevents them from entering into genuine relationships.

On April 24th, the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) released a startling report from the SEC Inspector General, Senator Charles Grassley.  The report identified 31 separate cases of employees who had clearly violated SEC regulations regarding the use of SEC computers to view online pornographic and sexually explicit materials.  The investigation was initiated in 2007.

Seventeen of the violators were senior staff members earning between $100,000 and $200,000 per year.  Disciplinary measures have not been released.  The report stated that the high level employees spent hours each day connected to improper sites.  The Inspector General received outright admissions from most users.

One senior attorney at the SEC’s Washington office admitted to spending eight hours a day searching for pornography.  Another SEC accountant sought pornographic sites 1800 times in a two-week period.  A female employee saved more than 600 sexually explicit images on her SEC computer.  Another senior enforcement attorney had more than 775 saved pornographic images on his SEC computer

In the U.S. and around the world, the issue of online porn activity in the workplace has become a major concern, dividing families, destroying relationships and causing the loss of employment.  In fact, addiction to porn and addiction to masturbation will cause legal, financial and employment problems that can change the addict’s life in a heartbeat while affecting co-workers, family members and friends.

Chances are good that you or someone you know is suffering from porn addiction and masturbation addiction.  These addictions require therapy, and the sooner the better.  Many porn and masturbation addicts have attempted self-treatment. Self treatment for any addiction rarely works.  All addictions are serious physical/psychological dependencies.

Masturbation addiction and porn addiction are treatable.  That first step is the most difficult.  It is never easy to face dependencies of any sort.  Be brave.  Take the first step.  Read our free booklet and use it as an outline to recovery.  You will have a different outlook almost immediately.  You will soon have a sound base that will turn you into the positive, productive person you know you are.  Forget the past.  Your life is ahead.

The pornography industry is booming globally.  It may be a sad commentary on the world’s social mores or the depth of our emotional insecurities, but the repercussions of these sexual dependencies and others are serious and long lasting.

Pornography is big business.  No longer unimaginative scenes filmed in dark rooms, the pornography industry paid the State of California $36 million in taxes just last year.  Pornography is designed to feed on fantasies.  In big hotels, like Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and Sheraton, pornographic films are visited by more than 50 percent of the visitors and pay 70 percent of in-room profits.

Chances are good that if you are viewing pornography online or in a hotel room or just about anywhere else, someone is aware of your interest.  Businesses and schools now track, block and do everything possible to discourage the spreading epidemic of online porn addiction.

According to the Kinsey Institute, there are plenty of reasons to be concerned.  Answering questions about the use of pornography, here are some of the more interesting answers.

  • 72% of respondents said they used pornography to masturbate.
  • 69% said they used porn to sexually arouse themselves or others.
  • 54% used pornography out of curiosity.
  • 43% said pornography provided them fantasies that were not available in real life.
  • 38% used pornography searches to distract themselves.

The question is no longer whether lots of people visiting online porn sites.  They are.  Unfortunately, many of these people become masturbation addicts. What may have begun as an act of curiosity or a natural act of sexual exploration can quickly change to a dangerous emotional pursuit.  And, chances are that pursuit is being tracked.   Read the papers, check the media shows, pornography is all over the news.  And, so are the tragic personal stories that go along with the two addictions.
