Anonymous Online Help for Pornography, Masturbation, and Sexual Addictions.
Yes, You Can Overcome Porn and Masturbation Addiction

Masturbation and online porn addiction have become so intertwined that they are commingled in description.  While the two addictions have similarities, they are distinctly different and different therapies can be used to treat the dependencies.

If you or someone you know is addicted to online porn, there are several concrete steps that can be taken to limit access.  To some, these steps may seem invasive, but so is porn addiction and it will not go away without direct address of the causes and symptoms.  Each case is distinct so there is no foolproof, one cure fits all for either masturbation or porn addiction.

The most important step in treatment is to acknowledge the need for therapeutic action.  Once the addict recognizes the vicious addiction cycle and all the destructive repercussions that can ride along, a plan of action can be implemented.

For masturbation and porn addiction, the basic premise is to replace the negativity of dependent fantasies with concrete, real life successes and goals.  Sounds easy and rightful doesn’t it?  It will be harder than you think.  If you are addicted, these habits are hard to fight.  You consciously or subconsciously allot time, money and plan for excursions to fantasyland and you are putting responsibilities aside to gain access.

Online pornography pervades the air space.  Yet, it is not impossible to control.  Through a variety of filtering systems, you can seal these sites away from your home, office or school computer.  If necessary, you may have to give up the computer to restore your life.  You can also decide not to enter the Internet after 9;00 p.m. each night and to stay away from the porn sites during daylight work or school hours.

Online porn addicts like to be alone.  If you surround yourself with people, activities and a social life, you will feel less pressure to engage online porn sites.  Secretiveness and aloneness are symptoms of both masturbation and porn addiction.

Group and individual counseling can also be beneficial in building a lasting anti-relapse support network.  Are you understanding this is serious work for a serious addiction?  It is.  To save yourself and those around you, it is also necessary.

There are no addictions that are easy to overcome.  These especially personal addictions can be difficult to admit and confront.  But, you know how they are changing your life.  You know this is not the life you envisioned for yourself or your partner.  Your addiction is controlling your most precious gift, your life.

Some days will be harder than others.  Some days you will need a friend.  Often you will want to exercise.  Is that all bad?  Soon, you will be socializing, making fiends and enjoying life.  It’s worth it.

I’m 61. Masturbation was never a problem for me until one fateful night last fall when on a regrettable impulse mixed with curiosity, I started watching internet porn.

When I first started watching masturbation instruction videos, I had no idea I could become addicted to them. They were, I thought, harmless fun. How wrong I was. I quickly became addicted to masturbation instruction videos I could find easily on-line, download, and masutrbate to. Within a matter of weeks, I started spending hours, sometimes whole days and nights, on-line, looking for the porn I craved, downloading it , watching it and masturbating. Within weeks, my internet porn masturbation addiction took over my life. I’m divorced, I live alone, and I’m not in a relationship, all of which made falling into this trap much easier.

In the past 10 months, I’ve lost interest in things I used to love to do. I’m an artist, and I’ve stopped creating new works. I’ve spend some time working on works that were already in progress when my addiction kicked in, but my discipline as an artist has suffered, along with my creativity. I love tennis and still play, but I find it hard to focus on the court and enjoy the game less. I don’t read or watch movies nearly as much as I used to. I still exercise, but no as much.

Fortunately, my relationships with friends and family are still as strong. They don’t know about my addiction, because I’m too ashamed to tell them.

Before I became addicted to looking for and masturbating to internet porn, I often went a couple of weeks without masturbating or thinking about it. I actually preferred nocturnal emissions–and the vivid and wonderful dreams of lovely women that went with them–to masturbation.

Now I think about internet porn and masturbation almost all the time. Now virtually all day I fight the impulse to download porn and masturbate to it, or I give in and start downloading and stop, or I give in and don’t stop. I don’t fight it out of guilt. I don’t feel guilty. Masturbating to internet porn isn’t a sin or a crime. I fight the impulse out of the desire to get my life back. This addiction is a living hell, I can tell you.

And it’s real. The addiction is no fantasy, no guilt trip. I used to think that, whether one liked it or not, porn was just free speech, and that masturbation was a normal, harmless activity. Now I know from painful experience that porn (especially internet porn) is an insidious and dangerous temptation. And I know that porn and masturbation can feed each other and become a terrible addiction.

I know I’ve changed, I know I’m addicted, and I know the only way to rewire my brain and rid myself of this damned addiction is no porn forever and no masturbation for 6-8 weeks at least. I’m determined to overcome this and recover. This is no way to live.

I have to say, the photos that this website posts on each of the blog entries like the one above, do nothing to help people that are addicted to pornography or masturbation. It kind of ignites a fire. Perhaps y’all should consider this.

I completely agree. Those pictures, while humorous, don’t help those of us who are struggling with this addiction.

I agree with the others about the picture. Might be best to change it. I’ve been addicted for 30 years. I knew I had a problem when I was isolating myself from family and friends. I really need help. I can’t do this alone. Please pray for me and others for help to overcome this
